Transportation planning workshop scheduled
The Metropolitan Transportation Commission will hold a public workshop on the 2001 Regional Transportation Plan on Tuesday from 6:30 to 8:30 pm. The plan will determine the way that government funds are spent for transportation infrastructure in the nine counties that make up the Bay Area.
Members of the public will have the opportunity to meet with commissioners and comment on issues like handling traffic congestion, balancing needs to maintain and expand public transportation systems, and ensuring transportation service for low-income and transit dependent people. The Regional Transportation Plan is updated every three years, and the 2001 plan is set to be adopted in November. The meeting will be held at the MetroCenter Auditorium, 101 8th Street in Oakland.
